ATTIRE: Your adventure begins from the beautiful sandy beach at A-Bay. Come in shoes that you don't mind getting sandy, and are easy-to-remove for beach-ramp boarding. Casual clothing is recommended for all trips. On snorkel trips we suggest wearing swim-trunks and a t-shirt for men, and a swimsuit under shorts or a wrap for ladies. This trip is usually on the sailing catamaran Spirit of Aloha but on occasion may be on the powerboat Makai, which is a fast and nimble open powerboat, with plenty of sea-spray likely on trips outside the bay. Clothing that you don't mind getting wet is recommended for whale-watch and snorkel trips on the Makai powerboat. Makai is a fast boat with low sides and lots of sea-spray. There is storage beneath each saddle-style seat for dry storage of a small bag or purse, and a take-along towel.
This trip is on HAWAII ISLAND (the Big Island) on the KONA-KOHALA side. Call 808-886-2919 (9am to 5pm) for the Hilton Waikoloa Village sales and service desk, main lobby near the tram stop. Or call 808-234-7245 24-hour reservations line.
Hawaii Nautical is one of Hawaii's largest ocean-activity providers, with a fleet of vessels islandwide serving many harbors across Oahu and the Big Island. We believe in delivering service, safety, and the spirit of Aloha.
We respect the ocean and the ecosystem, and follow strict guidelines so that all marine mammals and wildlife are protected. And we honor the host-culture and support the local communities in which we operate.
We want the natural environment you enjoy today to be here tomorrow, and for every tomorrow after.
That’s why we are Hawaii’s first Dolphin Smart-recognized operator. NOAA’s Dolphin Smart educates guests about dolphin conservation and harassment and advises not to seek activities that pursue close interactions like swimming with dolphins in Hawaii in the wild.
We also follow the guidelines of the Coral Reef Alliance, to establish lasting change and promote coral reef health around the world. That includes sustainable practices — such as no fish-feeding. Coral conservation aims to save these valuable ecosystems, unite communities and preserve cultural identity.
We've been wowing guests of all ages for decades in Hawaii. While there's lots of excitement around our activities, we practice the highest level of safety in everything we do. We treat guests like ohana, the Hawaiian word for family that permeates everything we do.
Vessels depart from Anaehoomalu Bay at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. Check in 20 minutes prior to each trip at the Hawaii Nautical flag on the beach at A-Bay. Free resort shuttle from Hilton Waikoloa Village lower-level shuttle stop 20 minutes prior to each trip (reserve in advance). If driving, set your GPS to "69-1081 Kuualii Place Waikoloa, Hawaii 96738". This will take you toward the A-Bay beach and the Lava Lava Beach Club. Park at the A-Bay Beach Park parking lot, and walk along the beach toward the middle. Look for our orange Hawaii Nautical check-in banner near the two prominent coconut trees. We will come to get you there in our catamaran tender. When boarding at A-Bay, it is a beach-loading process with transfer from a tender-boat, with barefoot entry that takes a few steps near shore from the beach. Come in casual clothing that may come in contact with water.
